NCL had his 15/16 month check-up today. He will be 16 months in a few days.  He weights almost 24 pounds (45th percentile, so he is average).  He is over 31 inches long (25th percentile…we need him to grow taller!! I hope he isn’t short like his mother!)

He seems to be doing all of the things he is supposed to at this age. We are working hard on his vocabulary. He obviously wants to talk because he is saying a lot (“reading” his books, playing with his toys, etc), we just don’t understand his made-up language!

He got 2 shots today and looked at us as soon as the first one went in – his eyes said “why are you letting them do this to me?”  Luckily, Daddy brought blueberries (thanks for sharing Kev), and they were a GREAT distraction immediately after shot #2.

We have a healthy little boy..and we are very thankful for that! Now it’s dinner time– Souplantation and our last dessert for 40 days.

mini Radio Flyer

Elizabeth, Nicholas No Comments

I got home from work yesterday and NCL was running around the house – looking for something to play with (which really isn’t hard since we have toys EVERYWHERE!)  He grabbed the mini-radio flyer wagon, turned it over and tried to ride it.  He couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t move.  I tried to flip it over  so the wheels would be on the ground, but he didn’t like that.  He wanted it up-side-down.

When he had enough of the “non-moving” wagon, he picked it up over his head and went on his merry way.

Lots of Pink

Friends No Comments

We went to the Dugan’s for dinner on Saturday night, and the first thing I noticed was the VERY pink exercauser. I don’t know that I have ever seen that much pink at a time!  I had to put NCL in there to see what he would do.

Seems a little strange to see my boy surrounded by so much PINK! Of course he didn’t care that this toy was made for a girl, but he did care that I put him in there and he couldn’t figure out how to get out on his own.

While trying to keep the kids entertained, the 4 adults tried to get a few Wii games in. The Dugan’s got a Wii for Christmas and we hadn’t been over to play. I wish I would have snapped a picture of Nicholas while we were playing tennis or golf. He was hilarious. He was running around the condo with a little play tennis racket, and pointing at the TV — and “talking.”  (We just don’t know what he is saying).

Nicholas did much better when Rory was “trapped” in the exercauser and he could “show” her how to use all the toys.

Family Time

Family No Comments

It was so awesome to have a little family time on Saturday.  We packed a lunch and headed out to SeaWorld after NCL’s morning nap. We walked in the park and the first thing Nicholas saw was the Elmo Flying Fish ride in the kids area.  We had to hide behind a tree to feed him lunch, otherwise, he would have been WAY too excited to eat anything. As it was, he wouldn’t forget about the ride.  There is no way I could have gone on this ride…too much round and round for me. Daddy was brave enough for the circles.  There is nothing sweeter than the above picture.

Doesn’t he look so little sitting in the Elmo fish with his Daddy?  My little boy…going on rides!

After Elmos, we headed over to the play area so he could run around with all the other little rugrats :)

I was trying to show him how to stack the blocks, but he would rather knock them over.

The kid has fun…no doubt about that…

Multi-Tasking

Joe, Nicholas 1 Comment

Does anyone consider this “multi-tasking”?  He he…  (I doubt I have to tell anyone what Joe has in his hand).

On a side note, you notice that Nicholas is wearing a “leash.”  This was a gift we got at one of my baby showers long before the little dude came along.  I wasn’t sure about the whole “leash” thing. In fact, I am still not sure.  We have used the leash twice now – Disneyland and SeaWorld (pictured above).  I think that it serves a purpose in a crowded, public place – especially since the boy LOVES to walk around now. It’s not fair to keep him in his stroller while visiting these places and to be honest, he is getting very heavy to carry.

Lucky for us, SeaWorld has a fantastic “kid’s area” that has this lowered soft play area for the small ones. NCL had a blast as you can see above.  They also have a little “water park” area for the kids to cool off on hot days.  We have an annual pass for SeaWorld, so we can go anytime and play! I really do love San Diego :)
