Washington State

3:28 pm Vacation

…Yes, it’s gloomy.  Cold, wet, windy and gray.

Apparently, they are having an “off year” and really, by this time, the sun should be shining.  Hmmmm…not sure I believe it.

We camped at some really cool spots when we first got to Washington.  Camp Casey was right on the water, next to the ferry boat.

A short walk from the campground, we found the bunkers from WWII and a really cute lighthouse.

Time to drive the motorhome onto the ferry.  NCL and I ate breakfast inside while Daddy went out on the deck.

NCL takes naps on our bed….I think he actually likes it and sleeps really well..as you can see.

The next night we camped at Salt Creek State Park and it was AWESOME!  Nice campground — right on the cliffs.  We walked down to the tidepools, but it was SO cold and windy. I couldn’t stay very long with the baby.

We have SUCCESS!!!  A campfire AND s’mores! Finally!

In Olympic National Park, we hiked to the Sol Duc waterfalls.  Anthony slept.

This family picture was on the way to the big waterfalls.

And this next one is at the BIG waterfall — it’s Washington’s version of Niagara.

On the way back…NCL was trailing behind us. We looked back and saw this.

He is definitely a little boy..no doubt about it.  This is what he found (how he saw it on the ground, I don’t know!)

After our hike – we had lunch and then went to the Hot Springs (yes, more hot springs).

While the boys were swimming, I decided to get an ice cream – then I walked out front to the parking lot.  I saw a VERY large motorhome….and figured I would check it out (hoping that it was our friends, the Dixon’s – from church).  I didn’t see a license plate and the motorhome was brand new to them, so I hadn’t seen it.

I walked up….and from the window, I saw Trey Dixon waving!  How exciting to run into them at the hot springs! They were driving north and we were driving south – but at least we got to spend a few hours with them.

Berlin (The Dixon’s 3rd out of 4 kids) and Nicholas were having fun flirting.

The boys (Joe, Nicholas, Ryan and Parker)

I can’t remember the name of this beach…somewhere in Washington. We stopped to have dinner and then be on our way.

That’s all I have time for….Washington to be continued at a later time…
