Finding Nemo!
November 2, 2009 Family, Friends, Nicholas 1 CommentThis Halloween…we went in search of a little fish..named Nemo. He is a popular little fish in the LaGreca house. I believe the movie, “Finding Nemo” plays at least 3 times a week on the computer/TV. If we have gone 3-4 days w/o Nemo…Joe and I consider it a huge WIN!
So, when I was trying to come up with a costume for NCL this year..it took me a day to think of this one. Once I decided that NCL should be Nemo for Halloween – I couldn’t be stopped on the search for the perfect costume…in his size.
After spending half of a day on eBay, and vowing never to bid on anything again (people are crazy – they were willing to pay more than the costume was worth brand new in the store!)..Joe came through, once again, with an amazing find on Craigslist….the Nemo costume was ours about 2 hours later, for $20. I was SO excited!
Big surprise..the only way I could get NCL to put the costume on was…to start the movie. (And even then, he wouldn’t put the little hat on).
I was a little worried that we wouldn’t be able to convince him to wear it on Halloween. I was really hoping that he would see everyone else dressed up and that would be enough.
We had a Pre “Trunk-or-Treat” Party at our house on Saturday with neighbors and friends.
Our youngest guest was the first to crack open a beer. This is Joanna and little Sophia (11 months).
Time to suit up the children in their costumes (after we tried very hard to get them to sit down and eat! But, they were all too excited to eat dinner.)
We had a little ballerina, Julia (2yrs old). She was VERY excited to get her costume on (and actually, all the little girls were excited to get dressed up).
And then…there is Nicholas….he loves watching Nemo – but was NOT a fan of dressing as Nemo.
Luckily, the “fake crying” didn’t last long (and luckily, I work very fast and was able to force the costume on in a matter of seconds!) When I asked NCL to go over and hold Samantha’s hand (dressed as Alice in Wonderland) – the fit was over. (But, still no Nemo hat, I didn’t want to push it)
Group Picture (yes, NCL was the only little boy…our one other boy invite wasn’t able to come due to sick parents).
(Above L to R: Kyra – ladybug, Denise – Snow White, Lexy – Garden Fairy/Rabbit, Julia – Ballerina, Samantha – Alice, Sophia – Pumpkin, and NCL – Nemo)
Right before we were packing up to head out to the church…I was able to get the hat on for a picture!
Time to head over to FHPC for our big Trunk or Treat Event! As soon as we pulled up, you could see the GIGANTIC Obstacle Course Bounce House and Slide! NCL was SO excited! I was able to get his costume back on VERY easily (I told him that he had to be Nemo to go into the bounce house with Daddy..I know, I am bad – but it worked).
Our Bounce House “Bouncers”
After going through the obstacle course and down the giant slide a few times..Daddy was TIRED! So, we figured it was time to teach NCL how to “Trick or Treat.” He went to every single trunk and got a pumpkin full of candy
And yes, there was snacking along the way (I guess you can consider that “dinner”).
After loading up on the candy, and going through the 2 boxed mazes, NCL knew exactly what he wanted to do. Back to the Bounce House!
And the very end of the giant slide. It really looked like fun. Wish I could have gone down it!
After the boys were completely worn out from bouncing (NCL could barely hold his head-up!), we made one stop on the way home…Birchcreek.
He really didn’t mind having the hat on this time (I think he was way too tired).
We had a very successful Halloween with a 2 yr old. And most importantly, WE FOUND NEMO!!
