6 Years & Growing

Today is our 6 year anniversary.  I honestly feel like we JUST celebrated our 5th anniversary not that long ago! I remember sitting down to write the blog post about it.  It was fun to plan an evening away for the big 5 year celebration.  Unfortunately, I don’t think the “6 year celebration” gets as much attention. He he. It really snuck up on us this year.  This summer has flown by  (I think it’s the same thing every year!)  NCL has been keeping us on our toes – he has a lot of energy, so our weekends seem to revolve around planned activities that will keep the boy entertained.

Someone left me a comment today that said “I hope Day 2191 is as amazing as Day 1.”  I thought that was such a sweet thing to say.  And it actually got me thinking.  If I think about Day 1 (October 4, 2003) – I can’t help but smile – I gigantic grin from ear to ear.  What a magical day that was!  It’s fun to hear how other people remember our wedding day.  Mostly, I hear, “yeah, that was a really fun party!” — I am tempted to throw another one…. maybe for the big 10 or 15 year (although, I am told you have to wait until 20 or 25 for a big anniversary party…darn!)

Joe and I have more to be thankful for that we could ever say in words.  We have such a great, full, happy life together.  We are surrounded by love no matter where we turn.  I think it’s safe to say that we both have really enjoyed married life.  It’s too bad that “marriage” gets a bad wrap so often – because I think it’s awesome….especially when you have a spouse that is your best friend.

Joe and I usually don’t exchange gifts for our anniversary (oh – except for the amazing ring that he got me last year!) and this year, we didn’t really want to spend the money on anything, since we really don’t need anything. Joe said “as an anniversary gift, I will like to go camping for a weekend.” And, that is scheduled for November – so, we are all set, right?

Nope.  That’s not it.  What better way to celebrate marriage and love than by growing our little family?

Baby LaGreca #2 is on the way!  We expect his/her arrival around April 29, 2010.  We are SO excited to share this news with our friends and family.  I guess this means it’s definitely public now (since it’s on the blog!)

We had our first ultrasound appt on Tuesday, Sept. 29th and everything checked out great.  I will be honest, I was a nervous wreck before the appointment.  I felt so sick the few days leading up to the appt (I have been feeling more nauseous this time around anyway, but it was elevated before the Dr. Appt).  After answering all of the questions for the nurse, and sitting in the room for what seemed like a million years — we finally went to the ultrasound machine room.

I know these pictures aren’t very good (we have a much better picture of “peanut” Nicholas when I was 9.5 weeks pregnant).  This second picture, just above, isn’t a great picture of the baby – but the very best part about the picture is below the baby.  The lines that look like sound waves…..that is the baby’s heartbeat :)   It’s the one thing I was praying for the entire time. I just wanted to hear it on the machine.  As soon as the nurse pointed the heartbeat out on the screen, Joe asked if we could hear it.  She turned the sound up – and I immediately started to cry.  I closed my eyes, thanked God, and just listened to the most beautiful sound ears can hear. There really is nothing like it.  It doesn’t even get old that it’s our second baby. It’s just as special to us.

I guess this gives me something else to blog about, huh?  More weekly updates on the pregnancy front.  And of course, there will always be lots of pictures of NCL and all of his “happenings.”  The little dude is going to be a Big Brother!  Wow!

…….Poor Roscoe, he will forced down to the #5 spot next year.  Roscoe: enjoy #4 while you still have it!
