San Diego to Zion, Utah

9:59 pm Family

I must say, the trip looked pretty darn far on the map….but traveling in “Damon” made it SO much more bearable. Honestly, I can’t even imagine what the drive would have been like in the Prius.  It was SO awesome to have a kitchen and bathroom WITH us the whole time.  Joe and I are both loving this…..I need more vacation time.

We decided to drive to my Dad’s house on Tuesday night.  What a great idea…it cut 1+ hours off the Wednesday drive to Utah.  And, as a bonus, we got to try out our new sleeping quarters.  We all slept pretty well (aside from the dogs’ random barking at other dogs in my Dad’s neighborhood.)

Here is NCL on Wednesday morning…ready to get going!

And THIS, my friends, is why traveling in a motorhome is SO awesome.  Nicholas and I ate breakfast at the table (while we were on the road) and then we played for a little bit.

Before we knew it, we were in Vegas.  We picked a Super Walmart parking lot as our lunch location.  We needed to pick up a few things…we spent the 4+ hour drive adding to our list of “things to buy.” (ie. “things we didn’t think about” or “things we forgot”).

Otis’ favorite spot in the RV  – right behind Joe’s seat.

Hi Zion, we are here!  Just in time for a swim in the pool and then a yummy Italian sausage dinner.

Waking up at our campground, NCL watched a movie while I got breakfast ready and Joe worked on the RV outside.  This is a little dude after my own heart…..

After a long morning nap (all 5 of us!) and a yummy lunch, we decided to head over to the park and check out the ONLY “hike” (walk) that we could do with the dogs.  It was pretty hot out so we spent quite a bit of time next to the river that ran right along side our trail.

And this is a miracle….NCL is actually LOVING one of the dogs. (We have spent the last 36 hours saying, “No, Nicholas, don’t hit the dogs.” – “No, Nicholas, don’t throw your shoes/toys at the dogs”)

And with that, I am going to bed. We have a long day ahead.  Need to be up early and hit the road ASAP.  We are Idaho bound tomorrow!
